Blot Tattoos
Branding Project
The Objective:
To design a set of brand guidelines for a ‘fantasy brand’ as my final project on a branding course.
I chose to design one for another love of mine: tattooing. What would it look like if I were to own my own parlour and tattoo business?

What was delivered:
-
A set of clear and precise brand guidelines that would become a solid base for the business’ visual identity.
-
Mocked-up examples to showcase what the brand would look like when brought to life.
-
A set of hand drawn graphics to be used on packaging, social media assets and branded equipment.
Creative Process:
-
Collated a group of images on a mood board, communicating the visual identity I wanted for the brand.
-
Researched competitors in the industry to set myself apart from existing tattoo parlours.
-
I created the logo on paper using ink, inspired by the ‘Rorschach test’. It speaks to the ‘one-of-a-kind’ nature of the brand and practice, it can’t be replicated.
-
I kept the typography bold but simple, so keeping it all in uppercase achieved this whilst not overcomplicating it.
Results:
By the end of the project, I was able to pull together a cohesive identity for a potential brand. It was very personal, and communicated the authenticity of the brand.
Conclusion:
I was able to complete a project in a short time frame (a week) to a high standard. This allowed me to create an impactful and useful set of brand guidelines that would be easy to implement whilst maintaining the individuality it started with.
